Such a site has few pages. It may contain some basic functionality such as a “contact us“ page, images, a slide show.  The styles and color combinations are usually limited.

  • Decide and set up  relationships between the different data elements
  •  Design a logical structure to the data on the basis of these relationships.
  • Decide and set up permissions and profiles such as who can view the data, who can add and who can edit data in the database.

  • Design graphic user interface for forms such as login, password recovery, change password, and sign up.

  • The login procedures to access different levels of permissions are coded.

 Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is necessary if your site needs to be found on the Internet by search engines. SEO also involves how a page is ranked compared to other pages.

A. Basic SEO

Each page of the site needs its’ own set of keywords and description along with its’ page title suitable for a search engine to identify what is significant to the page. Each page is then separately coded in a way so search engines can read it .

Headlines and text content also affect ranking in the search engines. Adding new relevant content periodically is beneficial to search engine ranking according to popular opinions.

B. Linking strategies

Linking affects ranking and it involves the quantity and quality of other sites that link to and from your site. Linking may involve exchanging links with a site that has the same audience, or implementing other tools tailored for your type of business.

Poor linking strategies may harm the ranking all together. Needless to say, the quality of a link is very important. To make sure all links are relevant and working properly they need to be monitored and updated from time to time.

C. Search Engine Submissions

After coding a sitemap, a manual submission to search engines and directories can take place. Each search engine has different rules.

Adding new relevant content periodically is beneficial to search engine ranking according to a common and popular opinion.

 D. Search Engine Monitoring

After search engine submissions has taken place it is recommended to monitor and adjust the optimization.

Search engines changing rules and appearances of other competitive sites call for periodical monitoring and adjustments. Monitoring also involves reports on the ranking positions on the major search engine using the target words and phrases.

 SSL Certificate

An SSL certificate is used to secure a web page for applications that transfer sensitive data such as credit card and shopping information. Such a certificate will place the https prefix in the address bar on top of the browser. In this sample the prefix is there but lacks a certificate:  https://www.myname.com.
